Jyoti Prasad Agarwala (Assamese: জ্যোতিপ্ৰসাদ আগৰৱালা) (17 June 1903 – 17 January 1951) was a great Assamese playwright, songwriter, poet, writer and film maker from Assam. He was considered as Assamese cultural icon, deeply revered for his creative vision and output and is popularly called the Rupkonwar (ৰূপকোৱঁৰ) of Assamese culture.[citation needed] In fact, he is regarded as the founder of Assamese cinema for Joymati (1935).[1] His death anniversary (January 17) is celebrated as Silpi divas (Artists’ Day) in his honor.

Jyoti Prasad Agarwala was born on 17 June 1903 in an Agrawal family, to Paramananda Agarwala and Kiranmoyee Agarwala in Tamulbari Tea Estate. He is the nephew of another cultural icon, Chandra Kumar Agarwala. His forefather, Nabrangram Agarwala, had come to Assam in 1811 from the Marwar region in Rajasthan. After completing his studies in various schools in Assam and Calcutta (Kolkata), he matriculated in 1921. He went to Edinburgh in 1926 to study economics, but returned in 1930 before completing his course. On his way back, he spent seven months at the UFA studio in Germany learning film-making.

After his return to Assam, he continued his activities for Indian independence that had disrupted his studies earlier and in 1932 he was imprisoned for fifteen months. He established the Chitraban Studio at the Bholaguri Tea Estate and began filming the movie Joymoti around the end of 1933. This was the first film from Assam. The film, released in 1935, was based on a play by Laxminath Bezbarua about the heroic Ahom princess Sati Joymoti imprisoned and tortured by a repressive Ahom swargadeo. In 1936 he married Devajani Chaliha. In 1941 he participated in the freedom movement, and in 1942, he went underground to escape British repression. Toward the end of his life he moved from a romantic to a more radical vision, which was reflected in his works.[2]

He died of cancer on 17 January 1951 at ‘Poki’, Tezpur.

Jyoti Prasad Agarwala had written around 300 songs, many of which he had set to music himself. Collectively, these songs are called Jyoti xongit.[3]

Agarwala is lauded as the creator of Assamese cinema. In a period that saw the beginning of Indian Cinema, with the making of numerous mythological themed movies, Agarwala created a movie that was nationalistic in character.

According to my research, after a foreclosures home is offered at a sale, it is common for your borrower in order to still have a remaining balance on the mortgage. There are many lenders who attempt to have all costs and liens cleared by the up coming buyer. However, depending on a number of programs, rules, and state laws and regulations there may be quite a few loans which aren’t easily resolved through the transfer of lending options. Therefore, the responsibility still falls on the borrower that has obtained his or her property in foreclosure. Many thanks sharing your notions on this blog site.

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.

    18. Tyson F. Gautreaux Says:

Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.

Hi Sean thanks for your interesting question. I responded to the one on policy:
Cal really has a wonderful Office for Students with Disabilities. They make sure students with disabilities are treated equally and that their needs are accommodated as much as possible. Although Cal doesn’t believe in adjusting the curriculum (which I think is fair), the Office for Students with Disabilities would accommodate me fairly. I would get extra time to take tests. Also, if a class was in a building that wasn’t accessible, they would move the class into another building. I think if all universities followed these policies, students with disabilities would get an equal chance at receiving a proper education.

We have already filled out one of the forms and sent it back in and now you say I have to fill out another one because you haven’t received the first one, so I guess when the next one goes in then we will be counted twice. I don’t feel that I should have to fill out two and waste the money that the state doesn’t have and they have to take away from us stateworkers to get the economy back on their feet. It isn’t my problem that your postal services loose our form or can’t do their job to get it where it needs to go.

    47. Barry Says:

The problem here isn’t really that Will is making up facts, it is that newspapers are publishing his columns with such misinformation instead of pulling the column.

    48. Armand Says:

TLS, It is possible that we have an unrecognized duplicate in our master address file that has caused you to receive a duplicate form. As part of the census process, we look for these situations and ensure we eventually delete the duplicate record. It is also possible, though we had quality control procedures on all the printing and labeling efforts, that the vendor accidentally printed two forms for the same address. Unfortunately, no quality control process can ensure zero errors. Thank you for filling out and sending back your 2010 Census questionnaire. You can discard the second form. Because we have to account for each form we mail out, a census taker might come to your home between May and July to find out why the second form was not mailed back. At that time you can tell the census taker that you received two forms and were told to mail one back and discard the other one.
