  • Borolar Ghor:South Indian film director Mani C. Kappan’s first Assamese film “Borolar Ghor” releasing on 2nd November. Starring Utpal Das and Bengali Actress Debasmita Banerjee.”Borolar Ghor”  is remake of super hit Malayalam film “Meleparambil Aanveedu”. It was one of the highest grossing Malayalam films of the early 1990s. It made the list of “14 Greatest Malayalam Movies Ever” as compiled by Manorama News. The film was produced by director of Assamese version Mani C.Kappan.

    Me and My Sister :Me and My Sister, an Assamese film based on the issue of female foeticide, will be released in seven languages.The Rajesh Bhiyan directed film throws light on cases of exploitation of women and ill-treatment prevalent in the state of Assam.Initially, Me and My Sister was made in Assamese for the people of Assam. But the recent storm created by actor Aamir Khan’s show Satyamev Jayate on female foeticide forced producer Nepon Dhoula to release this film in seven different languages- Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Rajasthani, and English, besides Assamese.”The film deals with the fate of girl child. Currently, under the Indira Gandhi child Welfare scheme, Government of India presents an amount of Rupees 25,000 on the birth of first girl child to the families and Rupees 20,000 on the birth of second which we feel is not enough and should be increased,” said Dhoula.

    ‘ROCK’ ZUBIN GARGS NEW ALBUM:

     Singing sensation Zubeen Garg, who is celebrating his 20th year in music, will be dedicating his new album to Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, Mamoni Raisom Goswami and Hiren Bhattacharya.

    His new album is titled ‘Rock’ and is about his ‘rocking’ journey of 20 years in the world of music complete with trials, tribulations and triumphs. The much-awaited album is a compilation of different genres of rock music. “It is a full-fledged rock album and comprises 14 songs. It is my longest album till date and I have invested a lot of love and hard work in it. I have dedicated my album to Bhupen Hazarika, Mamoni Raisom Goswami and Hiren Bhattacharya. The album takes in one English song. My fans should know that this is an out-and-out rock album, and I have excluded some elements that I generally use in my albums. It is a live album – everything has been done in session,” said Garg. Known for his groovy, soulful voice which is flexible to every genre of music, Zubeen made his debut in the Assamese music scene with his album ‘Anamika’ in the early 90s and quickly etched his name in the hearts of his loyal fans. He also made his presence felt in the national music scene and has some popular Bollywood hits under his belt. In 2005, ‘Ya Ali’, a song sung by him in the Bollywood blockbuster Gangster’, became a countrywide sensation, catapulting Zubeen to the big league.

    • ROWD (SUNSHINE):Assamese movie by Mousumi Bordoloi & Gautam Baruah.

    Rowd: is the upcoming new Assamese feature film to be released in the state which is made under the banner of M.B.Productions. The title of the film means Sunshine and is being reflected as a journey of love in one of the film banners being displayed by the production team. This feature film in Assamese is written and directed by Gautam Baruah who is accompanied by a team of professionals & experts along with popular artists playing the role of interesting characters.

    • This muhurat of the movie took place on 16th September 2011 in a function at Jyoti Chitraban of Guwahati. The function was held in the presence of noted personalities belonging to different departments of work besides popular artists and media persons. ‘Rowd – Sunshine for you’ is being produced by Mousumi Bordoloi and the shooting of the film is being carried out in various beautiful locations throughout the country like Manali (Himachal Pradesh), Delhi, Mumbai, Shillong, Guwahati and many other locations. The story of the Assamese movie Rowd is based on a young guy and his love, dreams, friends, family and his endless journey of life where his past collides with the present.

      Star Cast of Rowd (Sunshine for you) Film

      The shooting of the feature film is under progress and is known to be drawing near completion. As already said earlier, the story is all about love and relationship between a boy and a girl. The star cast comprises of a balance between experience and new talents which includes new comer Monali Bordoloi. The other artists are Utpal Das, Diganta Hazarika, Hiranya Deka, Moonmi Phukan, Arundhati Bora Das, Tapan Bordoloi, Nikumoni Barua and many others including some artists on special appearances too. Most of the shots are already taken except a few college sequences remaining to be completed after which the editing task would be carried out in Mumbai to make it ready for release.

      People behind the creative team of Rowd includes Chirantan Mahanta as Assistant Director, Bipul and Bishwa as camera person, makeup by Bobby, Jyoti in Art and Chirantan, Rupam & Akhim Krishna in the Screenplay & Dialogues.
